چکیده

We propose an easy and efficient way to analytically design densely dispersion-managed fiber systems for ultrafast optical communications. This analytical design is based on the exact solution of the variational equations derived from the nonlinear Schrödinger equation by use of either a Gaussian or a raised-cosine (RC) Ansatz. For the input pulses of dispersion-managed optical fiber transmission systems we consider a RC profile and show that RC return-to-zero pulses are as effective as Gaussian pulses in high-speed (160-Gbits/s) longdistance transmissions. © 2004 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 060.5530, 060.2330, 060.4510, 190.5530.

Improvement of Optical Properties in Hexagonal Index-guiding Photonic Crystal Fiber for Optical Communications

Waveguides with low confinement loss, low chromatic dispersion, and low nonlinear effects are used in optical communication systems. Optical fibers can also be employed in such systems. Besides optical fibers, photonic crystal fibers are also highly suitable transmission media for optical communication systems. In this paper, we introduce two new designs of index-guiding photonic crystal fiber ...

Performance Analysis Of Dispersed Manage RZ Pulse

In this paper, the performance of 10 Gbps optical communication system with the dispersion managed RZ pulse has been reported. The return-to-zero (RZ) pulse is efficient for long-distance, high-bit-rate, wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission dispersion-managed systems. In RZ pulse, the power is transmitted only for fraction of bit period. The effect of varying the dispersion parame...

Analytical method for designing dispersion-managed fiber systems.

Using the equations of motion of pulse width and chirp, we present an analytical method for designing dispersion-managed (DM) fiber systems without optical losses. We show that the initial Gaussian pulse considered for the analytical design of periodically amplified DM fiber systems with losses will propagate as a proximity fixed point. Then averaging the DM soliton fields obtained from the slo...

Radiating and nonradiating behavior of hyperbolic-secant, raised-cosine, and Gaussian input light pulses in dispersion-managed fiber systems.

We address the problem of optical light pulses, called dressed pulses, which do not match the stationary pulse profile of a dispersion-managed (DM) fiber system and we theoretically analyze the associated radiation. Comparing hyperbolic-secant, raised-cosine, and Gaussian pulse envelopes, we show that the general radiation figure is highly sensitive to the input pulse profile. As common general...

Simulation of Single - Channel Optical Systems at 100 Gb / s

With the help of a computer simulation, we have investigated the conditions under which the transmission of light pulses through optical fibers may be possible over thousands of kilometers at a bit rate of 100 Gb/s. Employing an amplifier spacing of only 20 km, nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ), return-to-zero (RZ), and dispersion-managed solitons (DMS’s) may all be useful provided that certain additiona...
